Welcome to "Prewriting & Technology"

1. Reading the research

2. Prewriting time:  I like to squeeze two lessons into one whenever I get the chance.  Since this session is about prewriting and since none of us have a lot of experience with reflective writing, Amy and I are going to combine the two topics into this one session.

Take a few minutes to prewrite about your growth as a writing TEACHER.

Think about how your literacy experiences (reading, writing, speaking and listening) have helped you become a better teacher.

Assuming you will want to have a model of reflective writing for your classroom, do the prewriting for that piece.

3. Tool demonstration:

     Mind Mapping Tool:  Bubble--http://www.bubbl.us

     Note-Taking:  Webnote--http://www.aypwip.org/webnote/

     Outlining:  Read Write Think--http://interactives.mped.org/view_interactive.aspx?id=722&title=

     Searching for Sources: Soople--http://www.soople.com

                                        Librarians' Internet Index--http://www.lii.org

Citing Sources:  Son of Citation Machine--http://citationmachine.net/

4. Work time: Select a tool or two that you would like to try. You may want use or continue your prewriting from the beginning of the workshop.

5. Reflection: How did the tools affect your work? Were you more affective at the beginning of the lesson or using a new technology tool? How would these tools affect student writing in your classroom?
